For the Maasai, cattle are everything: food, material, currency, culture, ritual. The people, but even warfare and the warrior’s ego, are fed by cattle. Their greeting says “I hope your cattle are well”. To this pastoralist people, cattle it a symbol of wealth and a source of pride. Cattle is life.
So after 15 years in Tanzania, it seemed only fitting to me to combine my European roots in my designs with the Maasai culture in the choice of materials. Natural leather is a wonderful product to work with, it is durable and flexible, and above all: beautiful.
Every one of my bags is handmade locally, sourcing all products and labor in Tanzania.
